 The Latvian holiday Ligo coincides with the summer soltice. It is celebrated every year on the night between June 23 and 24, the shortest night of the year. On that night in Latvia, darkness lasts only a couple of hours. Each year we get together with many of our kids to enjoy the outdoors, play games, cook and eat shashlik (shish-kabobs), and stay up late.
